Aquatic Diseases & Immunity

Diseases of fish and shellfish affect both wild and aquacultured populations, accounting for millions of dollars in lost fishery revenues and ecosystem services each year. VIMS scientists identify and detect the diseases that affect marine life and  human health, studying where pathogens come from, how they are transmitted, and the genetic basis for immunity.
