Applications are open through January 5, 2026 for the Virginia Fishery Resource Grant Program (VFRGP). This program provides financial support to commercial fishers for initiatives that improve and protect Virginia’s marine fisheries.

April 15, 2025 | The Center for Coastal Resources Management at William & Mary's Batten School & VIMS, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Debris Program, is soliciting proposals under the Nationwide Fishing Trap Removal, Assessment, and Prevention (TRAP) Program and will award up to $1,475,000 using funding from the NOAA Marine Debris Program.

Marjorie Friedrichs has been named AGU's 2024 Rachel Carson Lecture recipient, an honor presented annually to recognize cutting-edge work in ocean science research by a woman scientist.

April 13, 2024 | Molly Mitchell received the British Ecological Society's Chico Mendes Prize, awarded biennially to the best Practice Insights article by an early career practitioner in the journal Ecological Solutions and Evidence.
