Human Impacts Box
This box includes lesson guides and supplies for three different activities. Each activity addresses one aspect of the connection between human activities and the environmental issues affecting the Chesapeake Bay. Paper Watershed is a short, simple activity students can complete to visualize the concept of a watershed.
The activities Effects of Ocean Acidification and The Effect of Climate Change of Fishes deal with two impacts climate change will have on the marine environment and the Chesapeake Bay – increasing water temperatures and ocean acidification. Effects of Ocean Acidification includes two quick experiments for students to conduct that will help them understand the causes and effects of ocean acidification. The Effect of Climate Change of Fishes is a game that students can play to visualize the effects that changing water temperature would have on species survival and distribution.
