All field trip experiences can be tailored for the students' grade level and interests. We often focus on hands-on labs involving classification and microscopy (including plankton labs), shellfish aquaculture, water quality, and ecology (such as eelgrass or oyster reef habitats). All field trips require closed toe shoes. A signed liability waiver is required to participate in any activities on or off campus.  To request a field trip or for additional information, call 757-787-8106 or email jmnoonan@vims.edu.
