A Message from the Foundation Board President

 

Dear Supporters,

What a year it’s been! From new discoveries to restoring bay scallops, welcoming talented students and celebrating our most successful fundraising year on record, there was so much to be thankful for in our 2025 fiscal year. For these reasons and many more, I am honored to serve as President of the VIMS Foundation.

When I think about the causes and organizations I could support, I believe there are no better candidates than the Batten School & VIMS. I value their research, education and advisory work tremendously. Why? Because I want to live in a world with clean water, vibrant fisheries from which to draw tasty food and resilient infrastructure that can withstand water’s occasional fury.

When my wife and I decided to document our own estate gift, the choice was clear: we wanted to support my alma mater, William & Mary, as well as the Batten School & VIMS. We are proud to be leaving a legacy to support their impact on coastal communities around the bay and beyond.

The challenges facing our planet in the years ahead will demand bold action and collaborative solutions. I’m confident the Batten School & VIMS will continue to lead the way with our support. Join us!
