Outstanding Professionals and Professional Faculty Administrator Award
This award recognizes a Professional or Professional Faculty member who has a record of outstanding performance and has made significant contributions towards VIMS’ mandates. Honorees have demonstrated professional excellence and a continuing record of proficiency in their area of responsibility.
The 2022 award goes to Adrienne Tillman.
Adrienne has been a Sponsored Programs Administrator here at VIMS for the past 5 years. In this short time, she has successfully submitted proposals totaling over $80 million and managed awards in excess of $35 million annually to federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation, NASA, US Department of Energy and US Department of Defense. In her position she works very closely with VIMS faculty, staff and students, who praise her for being friendly and “extraordinarily knowledgeable” about the many requirements of federal proposals. She always stays updated on new policies and generously shares her knowledge and expertise awith her team members as well as with the entire VIMS community.
Beyond her accomplishments in the Office of Sponsored Programs, Adrienne is always willing to give her time to help others and is actively engaged in ensuring that VIMS is a thriving, inclusive place for our community. She demonstrates her commitment by serving on the VIMS Awards Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, and the Professional/Professional Faculty Council. Adrienne embodies “our individual and collective responsibility for creating and fostering a respectful, cooperative, inclusive and equitable campus environment” as part of the VIMS Principles of Community.
