Meredith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Oklahoma. She completed a Master of Science degree at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, TX. Her research focused on the chemical transformations of petroleum contaminants in coastal salt marshes following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She also worked to develop applications of ramped pyrolysis - gas chromatography - mass specrometry to the study of petroleum hydrocarbons, in an effort to expand analytical range. At VIMS, Meredith is studying plastic pollution in marine systems. She is particularly interested in research that addresses the toxicological impacts of microplastics on a variety of marine biota.
