Laura is a webmaster and social media manager at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, William and Mary. She has a BS in Art and Biological Aspects of Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison). She has a background in many things, including research ecology (limnology with the Cascade Project at the UW-Madison, and marine ecology at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center), lab management, educational outreach, emergency animal care, photography, web design, and a plethora of fine art mediums (some of the more exciting mediums include fish-leather tanning/crafting, glass blowing/working, and silver-smithing). She was also able to enjoy being a stay-at-home-mom for five years and has some experience in early childhood education.
