Our long-term research goals are to develop an advanced modeling framework that integrates the physical, biogeochemical, and human components needed to simulate and select climate change adaptation strategies that will support a sustainable system.
With funding from the Coastal SEES program (2013-2015), we used a hypothetical storm surge barrier at the Bay mouth and representative storm simulations to study the impacts on estuarine dynamics, fisheries production, and potential flooding risks, with emphasis on feedbacks to the human system.
