2020 Spring Discovery Lab topics and dates have been chosen.
Join us Tuesday, February 18 from 6:00- 8:00pm for our February Discovery Lab: FOSSILS, with guest speaker Dr. Rowan Lockwood.
Dr. Rowan Lockwood earned her Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Chicago and is now a professor and the chair of the Geology department at William and Mary. Her research goal is to understand how extinction and environmental change can influence the evolution of fossil marine invertebrates, such as scallops and oysters. Dr. Lockwood has conducted research outside the Chesapeake Bay area, from Kenya to the Great Barrier Reef, and is excited to share her love of fossils with the public at this month’s Discovery Lab.
The Discovery Lab will include exhibits and hands-on activities for all ages along with a short presentation by Dr. Lockwood from 6:30-7:00pm. Come dig up your own fossil, make your own fossil cast, and test your fossil knowledge!
While the Discovery Labs are free, registration is required due to limited space.
