Tara was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and has spent time working from foothills to coast in NC. She received her Master’s in Environmental Science from UNC-Wilmington where she interned as a sea turtle monitor at the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve on Masonboro Island. She worked for UNCW MarineQuest as a Marine Science Educator during the school year and summer. Tara branched away from her home state to complete an AmeriCorps service term in the education department at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and spend some time as an Aquarist at the Greensboro Science Center caring for numerous aquatic species - her favorite being a Spotted Eagle Ray! During her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors kayaking, scuba diving, and climbing any lighthouse she can. Her passion is in educating the public on how they can become environmental stewards and she hopes that during her time here at CBNERR, she can help to inspire a passion and sense of exploration for the Chesapeake Bay region!
