Research Interests:

My current interests lie in understanding the dynamical balance of estuaries of various sizes and energy regimes and in the turbulent energy balance in these estuaries.  I am pursuing these goals through the use of ADCP's, microstructure profilers using temperature probes and other instrumentation.  The use of ADCP's to measure turbulence by the variance method and the use of ADCP's to measure concentrations of suspended solids in the water column are two nontraditional uses of ADCP's that I am studying.

I also am interested in the remote sensing of the atmosphere using various ground based and satellite based instruments and the ground truthing of the MODIS and MISR spectroradiometers aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites through comparison with instruments at the Southern Great Plains Cloud and Radiation Testbed.  These include a Raman LIDAR, several ground based spectroradiometers, and the CIMEL sun photometer.
