Subject: Schwerpunt is Kicking!
Open up on Turn 1 with the standard move to position and right into my 85 & 152 Bore sighted hexes--but to no avail, the turn was marred by his motion Panther scoring a CH on the 85L!! Sick!
Turn 2 and his madman 9-1AL in a Tiger takes a shot at about 12 hexes to the hilltop 152 through a smoke from a burning wreck and gets the improbable hit and then the CH--boom another gun gone. The last 85L malf. around turn 3 and the hill is open real es tate.
He is still unharmed by turn 4 and I've sacrificed all my T-34s in an attempt to flank him from the north--this 9-1AL Tiger is saving Scott. So I decide to lay back since I've got only a half of my AFVs left and do a sort of reverse slope defence.
Turn 4 sees his Stuka finally commit--he got it on turn 2, but the first point attack boxcars his MG!!! Yes. He later got the direct hit with the bomb to take out a SU-152. No love lost cause I'm in wait for his assault and getting some needed Imobs and t he kill when he comes up on the hill--love those SU-152s!
Turn 6/7 a couple more kills and Scott is about out of the picture--level 2 hills untouched, the last couple of straws were a SU-152 way back on the other dinky level 1 hill dusting a Panther and Tiger that got to level 1 on the main hill, another Panther kill with his 10-2AL from a side shot he GAVE me maneuvering on the flank of the main hill.
The mud kept alot of uncertainty in the air, the 12's Scott was rolling 12s for his to Hit rolls then recalling due to malf.--I got more relief from that than my wimpy 85Ls trying to get a shot to score a kill. Anyway when it was conceded around turn 8 th ere was smoking wrecks all over the place. I still had the hill with a few SU-152s and KV-1s and an SU-85 w/AL to boot. Scott was down to a couple of immob. a Tiger and Panther and that was about it. Whewie!!! it was tense.
I forgot about the depl. # going up and failed on several occasions to maximize that boost in to Kill # when I should have. I was too aggresive early on and lost all my T-34s without a peep. I did better by letting him close in on limited LOS positions on the reverse slope and blasting with several defenders, the SU-152s saved me.
Thanks again for this litte gem, havn't played anything like it.
