Welcome to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) and to the United States of America (USA). If you are thinking of attending our school, or if you have already been accepted as a graduate student, this website is designed to give you the information that you may need as you plan your trip to America, and adjust to this culture. There are a number of international students and faculty here at VIMS, from countries such as China, Korea, Mexico, Belgium, France, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. VIMS is the graduate School of Marine Science of the College of William & Mary in Virginia (W&M). Although VIMS is a part of W&M, it is important to note that they are NOT at the same location. W&M is located in Williamsburg, Virginia (VA), and VIMS is located in Gloucester Point, VA, approximately 15 miles east of W&M. There is NO public transportation between the two campuses.
