Summer Intern ProgramThe CampusThe Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) is the School of Marine Science (SMS) of the College of William and Mary. The VIMS/SMS campus is located in Gloucester Point, VA, on the shores of the York River. The Williamsburg campus is approximately 15 miles from VIMS/SMS. From Gloucester Point, Williamsburg is reached by crossing the York River bridge to Yorktown and then proceeding west along the scenic "Colonial Parkway", which follows the historic roadway between the two towns. Daily transportation between the two campuses is provided for interns on weekdays. In Williamsburg, interns have access to a variety of amenities (take the Virtual Visit of W&M, see below), including the recreation center, health center and main library. The town of Williamsburg offers a variety of cultural activities and access to restaurants, movie theatres and shopping, etc, many within walking distance of the campus.
