Requirements:
  • 1 year each of high school biology and chemistry
  • 2 years high school Mathematics (at least one year Algebra)
  • Must be enrolled in high school at the time of their participation.
Procedures and Deadlines:
High school students interested in applying to the F.I.R.S.T. Program should submit:
  1. Completed application form: Note: A photocopy is acceptable.
  2. Letter stating interests and reasons for applying to the program. Please include any research experiences to date.
  3. Copy of most recent official transcript which includes class rank and class size.
  4. Two letters of recommendation from teachers or other individuals who can comment on the academic and/or research potential of the applicant.
Applications should be received by 9 March 2001. Official notifications will be sent beginning 9 April 2001. The 2001 program will begin 18 June and end 3 August.  An orientation will be held during May/early June, 2001.
