Admissions
Applicants are encouraged to visit the campus to contact faculty members about specific research interests, funding opportunities, and program information. Admission to the School of Marine Science is highly competitive; there were 93 applicants for the entering class of 2007, of which only 32 were accepted. The Faculty carefully evaluates criteria of performance, which include GRE scores, overall GPA and GPA in area of concentration, the applicant’s statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, and prior experience. The School of Marine Science Catalog contains information on Admissions, Degree Requirements, Financial Support and Facilities. The cost of full-time study for the school year 2007-2008 (at 9 or more credit hours) is $4,900 for Virginia residents, and $11,507 for non-Virginia residents for each semester. Assistantships are available to many students. A nonrefundable processing fee of $50.00 must accompany the application form. A check or money order payable to the College of William & Mary is required. Please note that the deadline for accepting applications for the fall semester is January 15 of each year. Applicants will be notified after April 15. |
