Research

I am broadly interested in coastal geology. Currently, my research focuses primarily on sedimentological records and often relies on geochemical tools and techniques. In my graduate work I am studying the evolution of the barrier island systems of the Delmarva Peninsula.

I graduated from William & Mary in May 2016 with bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Government. I was a REU intern at VIMS in Summer 2015 and completed an honors thesis on the human impacts on sediment supply to the Plum Island, MA, barrier system over the last several hundred years.

Coastal geology ties into an additional interest of mine: public policy. With nearly 62.5 million houses in coastal communites in the U.S. and $3 trillion worth of infrastructure along the U.S. East and Gulf coasts, understanding the science of complex coastal systems is crucial to implementing effective and appropriate policy at local, state, and federal levels. I am involved in local public policy and planning for the City of Williamsburg, VA, where I serve on the Planning Commission.
