Model Application: Improvement on wave intrusion at Patuxent West Basin

Using the RIDE to study the possible reason of wave intrustion into the West Basin off the Patuxent river, Maryland, two suggested improvements were recommended: (1) raprip on both side of the entrance channel, and (2) a short jetty on the lower- left corner of the west side of the entrance channel, They can provide a reasonable protection of the docking area. See the next figure.

Comparison of alternatives: (1) original, (2) riprap on both entrance sides, and (3) riprap and a 32 m jetty.
