In a regular male blue crab, or "Jimmy," (bottom) the underside "apron" is pointed like the Washington Monument and the claws are deep blue. In a normal mature female, or "sook," (top) the apron is rounded like the nation's Capitol Dome, and the claw tips are painted red. Immature females (middle) have a triangular apron. Back to story.
