Administrative Support

The Outstanding Employee awards are chosen by nominations received by the Awards Committee from all faculty, staff, and students at VIMS. They are awarded in the categories of Facilities/Safety/Trades, Research and Advisory Service, Technical Support, and Administrative Support.

The winner of the 2015 Outstanding Employee for Administrative Support is Ms. Cheryl Teagle.

As Business Manager for Marine Advisory Services, Cheryl excels in a complete array of fiscal and programmatic responsibilities. She does so with good humor and a “can-do” attitude. Perhaps being raised in Gloucester as the lone sister to five brothers explains her “take-charge” style!

Her positive outlook, coupled with a responsive and creative attitude toward clients, have generated widespread external and internal support.

During the April 2016 at the Mid Atlantic Sea Grant Meeting in New Jersey, Cheryl was presented with the National Assembly of Sea Grant Extension Program Leaders’ Chairman’s Award, recognizing “decades of dedication and service to marine extension in Virginia and the Nation.” I am pleased today to further celebrate her contributions over this past year as well as nearly 4 decades of outstanding administrative support to VIMS and Advisory Services.

In summary, Cheryl is widely recognized by colleagues and stakeholders as an invaluable asset at VIMS and beyond; one who is dependable, hard-working and, a self-less professional partner. And did I forget to mention—one doting grandmother!
