Full Description
There are millions of different species of insects. A typical Virginia backyard hosts hundreds of species and thousands of individuals! Although many people think of them as nothing more than pests, insects provide food for a wide variety of animals and impact all of our lives. At this Discovery Lab, you'll learn about the insects in and around the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Join entomologist, author, and photographer Dr. Art Evans at 6:30pm as he explains the exciting world of insects and the benefits they provide. The lab will include specimens, hands-on activities for kids, and a book-signing opportunity with books for sale that evening.
These family-friendly labs are provided by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve at VIMS. There is no charge; however, registration is required due to limited space. Register here or call 804-684-7878 for additional information.
