Veined rapa whelks: Research Objectives
Molluscan Ecology Program

 

 

The primary objectives of our Rapana venosa research program are to:
  • Describe and document the existing distribution of the whelk in the Chesapeake Bay
  • Investigate the whelk's potential sphere of influence and impacts within the Bay ecosystem as determined by the whelk's biology
  • Examine the invasion dynamics of this animal within Chesapeake Bay USA and other estuarine habitats.
