Abundance of Oysters at Restoration Sites

Abundance of oysters at restoration sites (shell plants and reefs) is quanitified annually. Shell plants (2 dimensional) are surveyed using a hydraulic patent tong that samples 1 square meter of substrate with each collection. Abundance of oysters on oyster reefs (3 dimensional) are evaluated with a diver survey using 0.25 square meter quadrats. All surveys are conducted in the Fall to ensure that the recruits for that year (spat) are included in all oyster counts.
