Mapping of SAV grounds is aided by GIS technology.

  • Networking
    • The VIMS campus network requires address assignment by ITNS Staff. Request an IP address through the VIMS ITNS Help Request Form by clicking on the life ring icon to the left.
    • A VIMS User ID and password are required to participate on the VIMS campus network. Apply for a userid in Watermen's Hall 218.
    • Access to the internet for both the Gloucester Point and Wachapreague Campus is via DS3 (45mbit/sec) provided by Network Virginia.
    • Internet 2 connectivity (Gloucester Pt. only) via the Abilene VirginiaMAX GigaPOP (NWVng)
    • In Late Spring 2007 the Gloucester Pt. Campus will be connected to National Lambda Rail via a Gigabit ethernet connection through the W&M Campus

  • Connecting from off-campus
    • Dial-in Access up to 56kbs is available at 804 684-7622. Use your VIMS userid and password to authenticate.
    • The VIMS Virtual Private Network service allows you to connect through the internet from off-campus and participate in the VIMS LAN. Request VPN installation instructions using the VIMS ITNS Help Request Form by clicking on the life ring icon to the left.
