My graduate research will be on Carcharhinus plumbeus, the Sandbar Shark, focusing on osmoregulation in order to determine how C. plumbeus is able to tolerate lowered salinities. Specifically, how they are able to use the Chesapeake Bay as a nursery area for predator avoidance because no other shark species will enter the Bay's lower salinity waters.
