Research Interests

Parasitology and invertebrate pathology; shellfish genetics and molluscan population biology; host-parasite interactions.

  • Evaluation of the health and reproductive status of older, post-market size Crassostrea virginica as a key to Perkinsus marinus resistance in natural populations. With E.M. Burreson, funded by the Sea Grant Oyster Disease Research Program.
  • Native oyster restoration in Chesapeake Bay. With E.M. Burreson and others, funded by the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office.
  • Crassostrea ariakensis-pathogenic Bonamia: The source of Bonamia, the role of Crassostrea virginica in epizootics, and the pre-patent period. With C. Audemard and E.M. Burreson, funded by the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office.
