- The Bridge: a web-based clearinghouse of the best on-line resources for marine science education, is developed and maintained by Sea Grant marine education specialists.
- ChesSIE: provides resources and information specifically for mid-Atlantic teachers.
- Seafood Education: The Virginia Sea Grant Seafood Education Program at VIMS communicates current research information on seafood through workshops and seminars, cooking demonstrations, and professional development programs for chefs.
- Teacher Services: Virginia Sea Grant Marine Education provides services for classroom teachers and informal educators in Virginia and beyond, including workshops, courses, and online teaching resources.
- Blue Crab Bowl: The Virginia Regional Competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl showcases some of the Commonwealth's most talented science students as they display their mastery of oceanic knowledge. Teams from 16 high schools compete in a contest co-hosted by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and Old Dominion University. The winning team goes on to represent Virginia at the National finals.
- NSF GK-12 Fellowship - PERFECT: Partnership between Educators and Researchers for Enhancing Classroom Teaching. VIMS graduate fellows can improve their communication and teaching skills while enriching marine science content and instruction for their K-12 partners.
- DREAMS: Diversity in Research in Environmental and Marine Science. DREAMS is a partnership between VIMS and Hampton University's Department of Marine & Environmental Science to provide HU undergraduate students with comprehensive research experience, career preparation, and leadership training.
