Background:
I've spent my whole life on the water. Before starting as a Laboratory and Research Specialist at VIMS in 2007 I was a commercial watermen for 25 years. I primarily fished for crabs and striped bass. My years of experience on the water and in many different tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay have greatly contributed to my success at VIMS.
Research Duties/Interests:
My role here at VIMS encompasses a broad spectrum of duties. One of my primary responsibilities is to operate, trailer, service and maintain the CBNERR vessel fleet for the Surface and Shallow Water Monitoring Program and other research programs here at CBNERR. I also utilize a wide variety of field sampling gear and equipment including computer interfaced YSI water quality instrumentation. For over half of the year, I'm generally out on the water at least 15 days a month, which is where I love to be.
