Education:
B.S. Biology (Marine Science focus) 1996, Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Wallops Island Marine Science Consortium (VA)
Background:
Prior to joining to NOAA/NERR program at VIMS, I worked for six years in the Environmental and Aquatic Animal Health lab at VIMS where I was involved with Pfiesteria and crustacean disease research. In 2005, I decided to broaden the scope of my work into the monitoring of water quality in estuarine systems. Collecting and applying high-quality, long-term monitoring data is crucial to understanding part of the dynamics of estuarine systems and the effects of natural and anthropogenic variables.
Research Duties:
I provide laboratory, field, and data support for the Chesapeake Bay NERR research and water quality monitoring programs including calibration, maintenance, and deployment of YSI 6600EDS datasondes, field sampling, and sample processing. On occasion, I also assist with advisory service and educational support tasks.
Special Interests:
Estuarine Ecology, Crustacean Ecology, Ethology/Animal Behavior, Biodiversity
