Spray Dredging"With support from private owners of some of the most pristine tidal freshwater and low-salinity wetlands in the nation,
we are involved in a four-year project to investigate the potential for
spray dredging for two very important reasons.
We hope to determine if this can be an environmentally acceptable method of dredged material disposable and also hope to
discover if the technique can help marshes sustain themselves in the face of rising sea level. This private support not
only provides us access to a very important research environment, but also has enabled us to involve students in some very
exciting applied research."
"No question, there have been dramatic changes in the marshes over the past years. Anything we can do to replenish
our marshes is worth the effort because marshes are a huge asset. I fully support this project, but must say Sture Olsson
is the real hero in this project. He spearheaded the entire effort and it is his commitment that has brought it this
far."
