  VIMS Fisheries Science Lab

Moses D. Nunnally Charitable Trust

The late Moses D. Nunnally, Jr. was an avid recreational sports fisherman with a keen interest in the research and advisory activities of VIMS. Support from the Moses D. Nunnally Charitable Trust provided funding for Nunnally Hall, which houses the 100,000 specimen Fish Collection. Scientists worldwide access this valuable scientific collection. In addition, the Trust has helped to provide equipment for the Fisheries Science Laboratory.

"Support from the Nunnally Foundation enabled us to complete the Fish Processing Lab," says Dr. John Graves, Department of Fisheries Science chair. "This is an important addition to the Fisheries Science Laboratory that allows fisheries researchers to process large samples of fish or shellfish as they come in from the field. The lab is set up with stainless autopsy tables for sample processing, and everything is waterproof, allowing rapid cleanup with a hose."
