The Massey Foundation

A longtime supporter of VIMS, Morgan Massey was the driving force behind establishment of the VIMS Foundation and now serves as its first president.

The Foundation has received initial gifts and pledges totaling $2 million. The Foundation's mission is to solicit private gifts and property for VIMS and to administer and manage these funds to support the mission of the Institute.

"The Foundation provides an outstanding opportunity to help VIMS achieve its goals through the purchase of new research equipment, and support to outstanding students and faculty--this is the kind of support that ensures VIMS will remain competitive and able to produce cutting-edge research," said Dean and Director Don Wright.

"Providing an unrestricted endowment for VIMS is an important step toward protecting the financial future of the Institute and placing it in a better position to respond to emerging issues that affect our marine resources. I am very pleased to have a part in this," says Massey
