GRAY TROUT

Recapture rate for gray trout continued to be less than 1% in 1999, and this species was dropped from the program beginning June 1999.
3 recapture events for gray trout in 1999 documented rapid movement of tagged individuals from the Bay mouth to the middle Bay.
- A gray trout (16.00” TL) tagged at the CBBT, 2nd Island on 5/27/99 was recaptured in the lower Rappahannock River on 6/19/99 (23 DAL).
- A gray trout (14.00” TL) tagged at the CBBT 12 mile post on 6/30/99 was recaptured in Tangier Sound on 7/11/99 (11 DAL).
- A gray trout (19.00” TL) tagged at Rudee Inlet on 5/8/99 was recaptured at Lynnhaven Inlet on 5/25/99 (17 DAL).
6 gray trout tagged and released at the First, Second, and Fourth CBBT Islands in May-June 1999 were recaptured at the same sites where released between June-August 1999 (16-90 DAL).
