  • Recapture events in 1999 continue to document regional and site affinity of cobia in Chesapeake Bay during summer months
    • 7 cobia tagged and released in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1998-1999 were recaptured in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1999.
    • 2 cobia tagged and released in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1997 were recaptured in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1999.
    • A cobia tagged and released in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1995 was recaptured in lower Chesapeake Bay in summer 1999.

  • Recapture events for cobia continue to document north-south migration routes
    • A cobia tagged in Chesapeake Bay in June 1998 was recaptured off Jacksonville, FL, in April 1999 (316 DAL)
    • A cobia tagged in Chesapeake Bay (Bluefish Rock) in July 1995 was recaptured 4 nm east of Oregon Inlet, NC, in June 1999 (1,428 DAL)

  • Recapture events for cobia in 1999 continue to document short-term utilization and over-wintering of small cobia at the “Hot Ditch” in the southern branch of the Elizabeth River.
    • A cobia (14.5” FL) released at the “Hot Ditch” in Dec 1998 was recaptured at the “Hot Ditch” in Jan 1999 (23 DAL).
    • A cobia (13.0” FL) released at the “Hot Ditch” in Mar 1999 was recaptured at the “Hot Ditch” in Apr 1999 (37 DAL).
