Research Interests
- Determining population-level changes of Chesapeake Bay fishes of importance to fisheries management using long-term survey data
- Understanding fish distribution, movement, habitat use, and dispersal in terms of individual behavioral responses to environmental and habitat changes
- Estimating survival rates and exploring questions of interest to fishery managers using mark-recapture studies
Current Projects

- Juvenile striped bass seine survey (with Mandy Hewitt and Julia Ellis). Funded by Wallop-Breaux (USFWS)
- Understanding localized movements and habitat associations of summer flounder in Chesapeake Bay (with Jon Lucy). Funded by Virginia Marine Resources Commission
- Towards validation of juvenile indices of abundance for several fish species in Chesapeake Bay (with Dr. Rob Latour and C. Bonzek). Funded by Virginia Marine Resources Commission
- Habitat affinity of demersal species in disturbed coastal environments (with John Manderson and Jeff Pessutti). Funded by the US Army Corps of Engineers
- Factors affecting catch and release mortality of Atlantic coast bluefish (with Fred Scharf, Gary Shepherd, and John Rosendale). Funded by NOAA-Fisheries Service
