I attended Randolph-Macon College (Ashland, VA) from 2003-2007, earning a BS in Biology and a minor in Asian Studies. During my senior year at RMC I completed a 5 month internship at the Newfound Harbor Marine Institute (Seacamp) on Big Pine Key, FL. During the internship I learned to teach marine science to middle school and high school students. In spring 2008 I returned to NHMI as a marine science instructor. I have also taught K-5th grade as a marine science instructor at a camp on Long Island, NY. I created my own lesson plans for an 8 week summer program. From 2008-2010, I completed my MS at Georgia Southern University. I specialized in parasitology, grass shrimp, and animal behavior. I am currently a PhD student at VIMS working with Jeffrey Shields. My focus is on parasites in blue crabs and I assist with research on diseases in Spiny Lobsters. After I complete my PhD I would like to teach biology, parasitology, and marine science at a small college.
