I grew up in western Connecticut and attended Rutgers University for my undergraduate degree. I majored in Biological Oceanography and worked with many inspiring professors on research projects of many topics, including eelgrass, oysters, and sea urchin larvae. I have a passion for marine invertebrates and am specifically an oyster enthusiast.
I am working in Dr. Ryan Carnegie's laboratory researching the host-parasite relationship between oysters and dermo. I am excited to be using the unique and powerful resource of the histological archives here at VIMS. I believe that the preserved oyster tissue from the past contains useful information for the present and the future, and I am thrilled to be the scientist to investigate it.
