Background
Emily is a M.S. candidate at VIMS, having received a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Policy from Middlebury College. She studied abroad in Italy and New Zealand. At Middlebury, Emily and her classmates worked with author Bill McKibben, to create 350.org, an international grassroots climate change campaign.
In New York City, Emily worked for Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance as the Program and Government Affairs Associate. She facilitated the update of New York City’s Comprehensive Waterfront Plan, managed Living Shoreline projects and influenced local, state, and Federal environmental legislation. Previously, Emily served as the Field Coordinator for Waterkeeper Alliance, an international clean water advocacy organization. She worked with international grassroots advocates in their fight to protect clean water by advancing community-based solutions to local, national and international water quality issues.
