TEST SITES FOR OYSTERS
Oyster strains are tested throughout the region with other research
institutions.
The Center maintains its own brood stock farm and test sites on the
Eastern Shore, and frequently uses the York River adjacent to VIMS as a test site.
Future strain development will require a large number of additional sites.
OBJECTIVE OF GARDNER RESEARCH EXTENSION NETWORK:
To promote and coordinate test sites with cooperating gardeners for Center
projects
Sites are
set up on an as-needed basis, depending on the project

cooperators would provide grow-out gear (if possible) and assistance with the care and

are obtained. VMRC General Permit #3 is required for participation. Call (757)
