for Blue Crab Bowl Participation

Dates for Blue Crab Bowl 2009 will be posted in August-September 2008.

The following dates for 2008 provide an idea of timing, but dates for 2009 may be different!

•  November 12, 2007
   Last day to submit submit Statement of Intent form.

   Participants will be selected by lottery.

•  November 20, 2007
   Teams selected to compete will be notified;
   waitlisted teams will be notified.

•  January 21, 2008
   Selected teams' registration forms and

   deposit due.

•  February 22-23, 2008
   11th Annual Blue Crab Bowl
   Old Dominion University
   Norfolk, Virginia

•  Friday field trip:
   Nauticus Museum on Friday, February 22, 

   1-4:30 p.m. 

•  Inclusive event times:
   Friday from 1 p.m. to ~9 p.m. and
   Saturday from 8 a.m. to ~6 p.m.

•  April 25-27, 2008
   11th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl
   Championship Competition
   Seward, Alaska

COSTS

•  $40 registration deposit for BCB participating teams,fully refundable to competing teams at the end of the competition day.

•  Teams are responsible for their own transportation to the BCB venues. 

•  BCB provides some financial assistance covering hotel accommodations for competing teams (2 rooms per team). For additional chaperones and supporters: field trip, hotel and meal expenses are the responsibility of the team.

•  2008 BCB winning team (5 students, 1 coach) has meals, lodging, and transportation covered for the national competition in Seward, Alaska. Costs for additional chaperones or supporters are the responsibility of the team.
